DEBT INVESTMENT OFFICER – BAMBOO CAPITAL PARTNERS (Nairobi, Kenya)

BCP has a team of professionals active across Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. BCP is the wholly owned asset management arm of global impact firm Palladium, which operates in over 90 countries.
BCP is currently looking for an Investment Officer, fluent in French and English, to join our small team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals as soon as possible. The Investment Officer will report to the Investment Director and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent travel to Sub-Saharan Africa. The Investment Officer will work closely with the existing team in supporting the Funds and their investment activities. They will also work closely with the support and back-office teams on their respective transactions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Screen and assess investment opportunities, assuming responsibility for specific transactions under the guidance and close coordination with the respective Fund Managers;
- Lead Pre-Due Diligence and Due Diligence activities for potential investments. This involves conducting comprehensive analyses of identified companies and projects (financial, business, strategic, and socio-economic impacts), coordinating information collection, and overseeing the overall assessment process;
- Work as part of a small team to review and develop investment proposals based on detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis;
- Prepare and defend written investment recommendations to the Fund’s Risk and Investment Committees;
- Contribute to the post-approval / pre-disbursement activities in coordination with BCP’s Fund Administration;
- Steer/contribute to the activities of monitoring investees/investments until repayments;
- Steer valuation and audit process of investments for specific transactions;
- Contribute to the relevant impact management activities (including impact monitoring and reporting) of investees/investments in coordination with BCP’s Impact Management Team;
- Build and maintain strong and productive relationships with clients, co-investors and partners;
- Participate and contribute to the respective internal meetings and engage in BCP related activities;
- Coach junior staff members during the investment process;
- Continuously contribute to improving workflows and other activities within specific fund as well as across BCP;
- Follow BCP’s procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
- An investment professional experienced in managing debt investments through the entire investment cycle (from origination to maturity);
- A Masters or relevant equivalent degree with at least 5 years of work experience in the investment space;
- Must be fluent in English and French (written and spoken);
- Experience in Francophone and Anglophone Africa countries;
- Dynamic personality, self-starter, entrepreneurial, flexible, able to work with a high level of autonomy and in a challenging environment;
- Team player with emerging markets experience;
- Strong analytic, financial modeling, and structuring skills;
- Strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills;
- Long term and genuine interest in Impact Investments and motivated by BCP’s vision;
- Experience in transactions the target sectors of BCP.
